  • APPLEBY , RON - 18th January 2009, APPLEBY, RON - 18th January 2009, FORMER Southport club manager Ron Appleby died on Sunday, January 18th. Ron, 66, leaves behind wife Margaret, children Jayne and Jonathan, grandchildren Lee, Charlotte, Rachael, Lewis, Mia, Joshua and Amelia and great-grandson Kaylem. Former Kingsway Club manager, Ron was well-known for booking international artists including Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdink. He famously advised The Beatles to change their name from The Silver Beatles when they played his club in the 60s. Leave your tributes to Ron below.
