Remembering John Arrowsmith
- ARROWSMITH, JOHN -
12th February 2009, WOODVALE Rally founder and managing director John Arrowsmith died on Thursday, February 12. John, 83, leaves behind wife Betty and children Lesley, Colin, Derek and Mary. He worked as a hydraulic engineer for Lucas Aerospace in Liverpool where he became involved with the 281 Southport squadron, the 1026 Ormskirk squadron and the scouting movement. He was one of the founding members of the Woodvale Rally and colleagues described his commitment to the event as enormous. During his time with the air training corps Mr Arrowsmith was commissioned in to the RAF VR (T) and achieved the rank of flight lieutenant, training. He also served Southport as a magistrate for several years.
