  • BIRKBY, STEPHEN - 21st February 2009, MOUNTAIN biking and sailing enthusiast Stephen Birkby died on Saturday, February 21. Stephen, 40, leaves behind partner Liz Akerstrom and her sons, Sam and Tom as well as parents Joanna and Michael and brothers Andrew, Matthew and Nicholas. Stephen had a heart attack while mountain biking with friends in Long Mynd, Shropshire. Those who cared for him said he died doing something he loved.
